Donations Processing Volunteer
The Donations Processing Volunteers receive, evaluate, sort, and shelve incoming donations of books both from private parties and from the library.
Key Responsitilities:
Time Commitment:
Three hours per week minimum. Work schedule is flexible as to time of day and, in many cases, day of the week.
Key Responsitilities:
- Sort donated books from carts or cartons by value and by subject category.
- Shelve sorted books onto inventory shelves in library basement.
- Transport books from our donations area to the bookstore (not required of all Volunteers).

Bookstore Volunteer
Our bookstore volunteer operate the retail store inside the library building selling used books to the public. We are an independent nonprofit corporation who provide countless customers with reading material while raising funds to support our Library System. Through our sale of donated books, we raise nearly $50,000/yr to fund library and history center needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Most volunteers work one 2 or 3 hour shift per week on weekdays. A few work alternate Saturdays and a few more act as substitutes where needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and shelve books for display at the bookstore and outdoor kiosk.
- Operate credit card machine and collect sales receipts from customers.
- Help customers to find books in their interest area.

Internet Sales Volunteer
The position of Internet Sales Volunteer handles sale of more valuable donated books via internet.
Key Responsibilities:
Time Commitment:
The ideal volunteer will be assigned to work three hours one day per week handling all aspects of the position. Work hours are flexible but generally must include some afternoon hours to be able to pack and ship orders which have arrived that day.

- Gather and search donated books for possible internet sales.
- Describe and list chosen books on internet sales sites.
- Pack books sold and deliver them to the post office.
Time Commitment:
The ideal volunteer will be assigned to work three hours one day per week handling all aspects of the position. Work hours are flexible but generally must include some afternoon hours to be able to pack and ship orders which have arrived that day.
